Shawn Ring, founder and guardian
About the founder
Who built Solo, and why.
I am Shawn Ring. I am a husband, a father of four, and the dad and guardian of a young man with special needs.
For most of those 26 years my job has been air cover: standing by his mother, working through the therapies, and watching his needs change as he grew.
As he became a man, the hard parts changed. More anxiety. Loops he could not get out of. Jobs that did not hold. A need for calm, and almost nothing built to give it to him. Along the way his mother and I naturally became the only two people who know his patterns, his loops and his triggers better than anyone. His ability to connect with the world seemed to shrink as he got older. It wasn't enough for him, and Solo was born: a way to help him not only with his loops, but with his ability to connect with the rest of the world.
I am the founder and CEO of Avodah, an AI company built on language: translation, healthcare, and the work of making sure a person is understood. Avodah holds more than 23 issued patents in language and applied AI. Before that I spent thirty-five years building and running technology companies. Solo takes what I know about machines understanding people and points it at the one person it was built for first.
I am not a clinician, and Solo does not pretend to be one. The research behind every explainer is cited. The rules Solo keeps are written on this site. What I know about this life, I learned the way you did.
